Terms

The rules of using DOT Intel.

No fine print. By signing up you agree to a short list of things — here they are.

Last updated: 2026-05-25

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Seven16 Group, which operates DOT Intel (dotintel.io, dotcarriers.io, and dotagencies.io — the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

What you get

The deal

DOT Intel surfaces public FMCSA data + intelligence built on top of that data, in workflows designed for trucking-insurance professionals and commercial-insurance distribution teams. You get tools for lookup, prospecting, watchlists, underwriter intelligence, and carrier/agency directories.

Free tier: USDOT lookup with sign-up. Paid tier: credit packs that unlock prospecting downloads + bulk exports + reports. Pricing is published at /pricing.

Disclaimers

What our data is — and is not

FMCSA-sourced data is public, not curated by us. DOT Intel surfaces data from the FMCSA SAFER + SMS + L&I + Census systems. We ingest this data on a published cadence (see /methodology); FMCSA owns the source. Errors in source data flow through to our surface. If you find an inaccuracy that affects you, report it to FMCSA — we don't edit federal records.

Risk scores and percentiles are not federal safety ratings. The numbers DOT Intel displays are calculated indicators built from public inputs. They are not an FMCSA determination, not an insurability decision, and not a substitute for underwriting judgment. Don't make hiring, firing, contracting, or coverage decisions on our score alone. Read /methodology for the full disclosure.

FCRA is not in scope.DOT Intel is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Don't use it for consumer credit, employment, or insurance decisions about individuals.

No quote, binder, or coverage guarantee. Pricing analysis and appetite scoring on the platform are illustrative. Binding decisions belong to the carrier and underwriter.

Who owns what

Intellectual property

You own your data. Whatever you upload, type, or generate via the Service (saved lists, watchlists, notes, exports) is yours. We need a license to host and serve it back to you, but we claim no ownership.

We own the platform. The Service's code, UI, design, methodology engines, and aggregated insights are owned by Seven16 Group. Don't copy them.

Public data is public. FMCSA data we surface remains public domain; you can use it for any lawful purpose. The format we present it in, our derived scoring, and our search interfaces are ours.

Ending the relationship

You can leave anytime. See /data-deletion for the process. Closing your account does not refund unused credit packs.

Limitation of liability

The Service is provided as-is, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non- infringement. We don't guarantee uptime or that data is error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seven16 Group's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
